Golden Girls' star Rue McClanahan dies at 76:
 Rue's
manager Barbara Lawrence said she died Thursday,
3rd June 2010, at 1 a.m. of a stroke. "McClanahan was born
Eddi-Rue McClanahan in Healdton, Okla., to building contractor
William McClanahan and his wife, Dreda Rheua-Nell, a beautician.
She graduated with honors from the University of Tulsa
with a degree in German and theater arts.
McClanahan's acting career began on the stage. According
to a 1985 Los Angeles Times profile, she appeared at
the Pasadena (Calif.) Playhouse, studied in New York
with Uta Hagen and Harold Clurman, and worked in soaps
and on the stage." Click

And there's another architect in charge! Elliot
Brown was more inspired by
Bryant
Critcher's
design. Elliot writes: "He had
a
lot
of great ideas. I borrowed a bit from his design, but basically I just wanted
to
try and
make it a more functional house. I thought moving a few of the rooms would make
it match more closely, not just to the exterior shots, but also the actual set.
I used his idea of moving Blanche's bedroom to the front of the house as it was
in the pilot episode, and the rest just came together... I did add a few embellishments
that some leave out, such as the main A/C and Heater in the hallway, and the
laundry room just beyond the pantry... I do hope this will be of some assistance
to some of the other Golden girls fans out there, and hopefully you'll enjoy
it as well!" Thank You!

And it goes on! This time,
Thomas Fischer was inspired by the pics provided on Blanche
Online. He created the Golden Girls house virtually by
using Sims 3. As it is impossible to rebuild the house
1 to 1,
he preferred looking at the Golden Girls set rather than
taking the outdoor shots into account. Thomas watched many
pics and episodes from the Golden Girls in order to create
his brilliant movie.

The
ultimate Golden Girls house (Part 2):
Inspired by Bryant Critcher, Peter Zirngibl decided to
develop his own Golden Girls house:
"Cuz meanwhile I have
watched many of the episodes on YouTube and tried to make
the best of the house comparing to its original compendium
and view from outside. In the end You have to know that
You must bend every single stage and room at least to about
90 degrees. Well, I guess this model rules!"

 The
ultimate Golden Girls house (Part 1):
Once in a while emails make me thrill. That certainly
happened when I received Bryant Critcher's email.
This Golden Girl fan just burnt the midnight oil
in order to develop the ultimate "Golden Girls" house.
As we know, there are certain inconsistencies with(in)
the house, but Bryant managed to solve them in a
coherent way. Whoever likes may re-build his or hers
Golden Girls dreamhouse. Subsequently you will find
Bryant's email as well as the result of his hard
work:
" Every
year about this time, I start my annual 'Golden Girls'
marathon. Well at about the midway point of season
two, I started thinking about Blanche's
magnificent house and how everything connects to that gorgeous living room. So
I did a few online searches to see if I could find some blueprints or something
that shows the floor plan. After about an hour, I was shocked to find that I
had come up with practically nothing or at least anything that really showcased
the set and married it successfully with the front facade. So on a wild tangent,
I decided to just draw some up myself to satisfy my curiosity. After burning
up all my free time over the last week, I finally have something to show.
And I know what you are thinking, how do you make
the outside fit with the inside. Well I found that
there is one simple solution that fixes most of the
continuity problems: moving Blanche's bedroom back
to where it was in the pilot. Once you do that, everything
else falls into place. You also have to ignore the
girls going through the laundry room to get to the
garage but that is a minor thing compared to the bedroom
issue. There were also a few issues with transferring
a television set to an actual working blueprint. A
few walls had to be moved, extended or squared up.
The missing 'fourth
wall' all had to be filled in as well. But all in all I am thrilled how it
turned out. And now I would like to share it. I think fans might get a kick
out of it... some might even want to build it. (And if anyone asks about Blanche's
bedroom, I have come up with the perfect excuse... she got to it by a wormhole
at the end of the hallway.) Cheers!"

 Golden
Girls' star Bea Arthur dies at 86
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Beatrice Arthur, the tall,
deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy
lines made her a TV star in the hit shows "Maude" and "The
Golden Girls" and who won a Tony Award for the
musical "Mame," died Saturday. She was 86.
Arthur died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with
her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said.
She had cancer, Watt said, declining to give further
details.
"She was a brilliant and witty woman," said
Watt, who was Arthur's personal assistant for six years. "Bea
will always have a special place in my heart." ...
